Whether you are visiting the North Coast of Egypt (El Sahel), there are a few things you should know about grocery shopping in this region. Not all supermarkets are created equal and some are much better than others. Here’s my list of the best 10 supermarket chains in Sahel & El Alamein, Whether you’re near Marina, the new Alamein city center, Sidi Abd El Rahman (Hacienda, Stella, Marassi, Amwaj, La Vista, The Diplomatic Village / Diplo, and Zahra), Fouka Bay (Hacienda West), Ras El el Hekma (Mountain View and Swan Lake), or Almaza Bay (Jaz Almaza).:
1. Seoudi Supermarket (Al Alamein & Marassi)
Seoudi Supermarket is one of the biggest and best Supermarkets in North Coast Egypt with branches located in Al Alamein and Marassi. The supermarket is large, they have a variety of snacks and freshly baked pastries. Their vegetables and fruits are fresh, if you are looking for a good place that serves vegan food then this is the right place with a wide variety of vegan food and meat products have very good consistent quality
2. Dreams Market (La Vista, Stella Heights, Hacienda White, Telal, & Swan Lake)
Dreams Market is a chain of supermarkets on the North Coast with locations in La Vista, Stella Heights, Hacienda White, Telal, and Swan Lake.
This supermarket is great for shopping because it has all the basics and a bit more. They offer fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other products such as spices, pasta, and canned foods. You can always find something new when going there!
If you’re looking for something specific that isn’t available at Dreams Market then don’t worry because they have an online store where you can order things like milk & bread etc (they deliver!).
3. Bassem Market (Mountain View, Perla Marina, Jewel Beach, Long Beach, Royal Beach, & Marina 1 & 4 & 5)
Dreams Market is a chain of supermarkets on the North Coast with locations in Mountain View, Perla Marina, Jewel Beach, Long Beach, Royal Beach, and Marina 1 & 4 & 5. You can find almost everything you need in the grocery market: fresh fruits & vegetables; dairy products; canned food; bread & pastries; frozen foods etc. In some branches in Marina, they serve Pizza and oriental pies (feteer) with seats to eat. In the Summer they serve zalabia (an Egyptian oriental sweet), which is delicious!
Decent staff and management. Prices are reasonable compared to other supermarkets in Egypt but slightly more expensive than local markets in Cairo but the North Coast (Sahel) is always expensive.
4. Zahran Market (Marassi, Amwaj, Badr & Marina 2 & 6)
Zahran Market is the most popular supermarket chain in El Sahel (Sa7el) and Alexandrian in Egypt. It has 2 branches in Marina villages 2 and 6. It also has a branch in front of Marassi and in Amwaj resort Sidi Abd EL Rahman. The supermarket is clean and organized and all the products you need are available there including fresh vegetables, meat, fish and more! They have delivery services too so you don’t have to go out just because you’re running out of milk or bread at home!
5. Spinneys (Amwaj & Marina Valley)
Spinneys is a supermarket chain that has branches all over Egypt, it has 2 branches in El Sahel (Sa7el), Egypt’s North Coast. The first and biggest branch is in Amwaj Sidi Abd El Rahman. The second branch is in Marina Valley. Very good hypermarket where you can find most of your needs.
Their cheese is good if you want to get some for breakfast. Clean and tidy with good prices. Well organized & staff are helpful and very clean as well.
6. Gourmet Egypt (Hacienda White, Diplo, Dunes Mall & Jaz Crystal Almaza Bay)
Gourmet Egypt is a supermarket chain in Egypt with branches in the North Coast (El Sahel – Sa7el). They have branches in Hacienda White, the Diplomatic Village (Diplo), Dunes Mall & Jaz Crystal Almaza Bay. The place is quite compact, and clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s similar to Planet Organic or Whole Foods type of supermarket but with higher prices.
7. Metro Market (Hacienda Bay & Stella Marina)
Metro Market is one of the largest supermarkets in Egypt with 2 branches in El Sahel (Egypt’s north coast). The first branch is in Hacienda Bay in Sidi Abd El Rahman. The second branch is in Stella Marina.
Metro Market has everything you need from food items to household goods such as shampoo & conditioner, and even books if you’re into reading! Their customer service is excellent too; they have nice staff members who will always help you find what you need even though sometimes they may not know exactly where something might be located but they’ll do their best! If there’s any problem with your order then just go back inside again, they’ll sort everything out without any fuss whatsoever.
8. Carrefour Porto Marina – (Marina 3)
Carrefour Porto Marina is one of the largest supermarkets on the North Coast of Egypt (El Sahel – Sa7el). It is in Porto Marina mall in Marina 3, El Alamein city. The supermarket has a wide variety of products, they have almost every product you may need and its services are good as well.
9. Gomla Market – جملة ماركت – (Marina 5)
Gomla Market is a chain of supermarkets in the North Coast of Egypt (El Sahel – Sa7el). It’s located in Marina 5, which means you can find it easily.
Gomla Market has a great grocery portfolio that comes with standard prices and you can buy all you need on the North Coast at cheap prices. The only problem is that it’s crowded most of the time but they have amazing Australian & New Zealand veal beef as well as good fish quality too! The staff could be better organized though…
10. The Grocer Market (Marassi)
The Grocer Market is a supermarket chain in Egypt. The Grocer Market is located in Marassi Sidi Abd El Rahman, Egypt’s North Coast (Sahel). If you are looking for a quick grab this will be good for you. You can find coffee shops, fresh juice, sushi, and bakery as well.
Very nice staff, and clever and accommodating counters for pastries, cheese, and cold cuts. Their ready-to-cook meals and chicken, cooked meals salads sandwiches all are fresh amazing
